Explanation of Payment Options


 

e-Check/ACH Payments

  • $1.50 flat fee

Using e-Check creates a request for funds to be transferred from your specified bank account to Douglas County via the Automated Clearing House (ACH) system. A convenience fee of $1.50 is charged for this service, which is retained by the third party service provider, Govolution.

To pay by e-Check, you will be prompted for the following information: 

  • Parcel or Account ownership information (for taxes you will be prompted to search by name or property address through the property tax database)
  • The payment amount
  • Your bank’s ABA routing number
  • Your checking account number
  • Fee and payment confirmation
  • Upon completion of the online payment process, a confirmation screen will be displayed and a confirmation e-mail (e-mail receipt) will be sent to the payer

There is a $25 administrative charge for e-Check payments dishonored by your financial institution.

Credit Card Payments

  • 2.35 % Convenience Fee, or
  • Visa debit cards will only be charged a flat fee of $3.95.

Using the credit card option allows you to make payments using your credit card.  The following credit cards are accepted:  VISA, MasterCard and Discover Card.  You will be asked for your credit card number, expiration month, expiration year and card identification number.  Either a credit card convenience fee of 2.35 % of the payment amount OR a flat Visa debit card fee of $3.95 is charged for this service, which is retained by the third party service provider, Govolution.

To pay by credit card, you will be prompted for the following information:

  • Credit card number (VISA, MasterCard and Discover are accepted)
  • Fee and payment confirmation

Conventional Payment Options

 

By U.S. Mail or Special Delivery Service

To be paid timely, your payment must be postmarked by the due date or the end of the grace period as may be applicable.  A penalty for late payment will be applied if the envelope is postmarked after the due date or grace period.  Payment must be in U.S. dollars by money order, check or bank draft..  The draft or check must have the bank’s coded transit number along the bottom edge.

In Person or Drop Box

You may make your payments in person at the Douglas County Treasurer’s Office. We are located on the second floor of the County Administration Building at 1616 8th Street in Minden, Nevada (Historic Courthouse). Our office hours are Monday – Friday, 9 am – 5 pm, excluding holidays.

There is also a drop box outside on the west side of the building.  A penalty for late payment will be applied if the payment is made after the due date. Click here for map.

Your Banking Institution's Online Bill Pay Service

Escrow Account

Your lending institution may be escrowing your taxes for you.  This means that you are paying a portion of your property tax in each payment you make to them.  Your tax money is kept in a special escrow account and the escrow agent is responsible for paying your property taxes by the due date.  Contact your lending institution if you have questions regarding escrowing.
